What are Seasons?
In Pokémon GO, Seasons are periods of time that feature new events, Pokémon debuts, and surprises that all follow a certain theme.
As the Seasons change, you may also find different Pokémon appearing in your area and hatching from Eggs. Make sure to explore during each in-game Season to collect and train as many different Pokémon as you can! You’ll also enjoy special bonuses as you do.

Behold Keldeo in its Resolute Form! For the first time in Pokémon GO, Keldeo will be able to transform into its Resolute Form after a season-long journey at your side! Encounter Keldeo as you begin your adventure along a new seasonal Special Research!
Trainers who have already caught Keldeo can continue their journey with it and receive Keldeo Candy that they can use to power up.
The Tales of Transformation Special Research will be available to claim from Tuesday, September 2, at 10:00 a.m. to Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 9:59 a.m. local time.
New parts of the Special Research will unlock over the course of the Season, so make sure to keep an eye on your research tab!
Behold the Mega debuts of Sharpedo, Camerupt, and Metagross in Pokémon GO! Challenge them on Mega Raid Days throughout the season, and bear witness to the transformative power of Mega Evolution!
Behold the emergence of new Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon in Pokémon GO! Challenge and catch Gigantamax Garbodor, Dynamax Duraludon, and more this season!
Also, beware of heightened Team GO Rocket activity! Shadow Groudon will make an earthshaking debut in Shadow Raids during Tales of Transformation, and more Shadow Pokémon are sure to accompany Giovanni’s return this season.
GO Pass, a limited-time progression track, will be available during Tales of Transformation! Complete Pass Tasks to earn GO Points to increase your rank and earn rewards.
The GO Pass Deluxe, a paid version of GO Pass, will be available for Trainers looking for upgraded rewards and faster progression.
Pokémon GO’s leveling up journey is being rebalanced to add more to the experience! On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, Pokémon GO will release an update that increases the level cap from 50 to 80. This update will make the leveling journey more fun and engaging by celebrating leveling milestones with new rewards, new cosmetics, and more. And with this update, a number of players can expect to jump in level based on their total earned XP, but don’t worry, no player will go down in level!
From August 25 at 1:00 p.m. PDT until October 14, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. local time, all Trainers will get the following bonuses. These bonuses will stack with other event bonuses!
Additionally, Timed Research will be available to all Trainers who are level 5 and above. This research will give Trainers the chance to earn over 7 million XP!

This Season, a new way to connect and earn rewards is coming: weekly challenges! This social feature allows you to team up with up to three other Trainers to take on a group challenge each week. Complete the challenge to earn rewards and XP while growing your Friendship level. You can start a group with Trainers on your Friend List, no matter where they are, or get matched with other Trainers from around the world as a new way to discover friends. Keep an eye out for a new tab next to your profile page!
