Celebrate with Pokémon GO at the Pokémon Fossil Museum in Chicago!

The Pokémon Fossil Museum exhibition is making its North American debut at the Field Museum in Chicago from May 22, 2026, to April 11, 2027. This one-of-a-kind experience brings together the worlds of Pokémon and paleontology, inviting visitors to compare fossil Pokémon like Tyrantrum and Archeops with real-world fossils—including SUE the T. rex.

And Pokémon GO is joining the fun! Trainers who visit the Field Museum in Chicago will have collaboration-themed features to look forward to, including the opportunity to encounter Excavator Pikachu for the first time in Pokémon GO!

Pokémon Fossil Museum – Chicago

From Friday, May 22, 2026, to Sunday, April 11, 2027, the Pokémon Fossil Museum exhibition at the Field Museum in Chicago will offer exciting content for Pokemon GO during museum hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CDT (with the last entry at 4:00 p.m.)

The following will be available to Trainers near the Field Museum at no cost.*

  • Encounter Excavator Pikachu** from collaboration-themed Timed Research and Field Research
  • In-person raids with Excavator Pikachu** and Mega Aerodactyl**
  • Fossil Pokémon will appear in the wild**
  • Spin PokéStops to obtain event-themed stickers
  • Themed Collection Challenge
  • Take a few snapshots for a surprise!
*Pokémon GO Fossil Museum gameplay and bonuses will be available within the museum area during active event hours. This content will replace all other Pokémon GO gameplay and bonuses, and similar bonuses will not stack.
**If you’re lucky, you may encounter a Shiny one!
