Kick off 10 years of Pokémon GO and 30 years of Pokémon with “What’s Your Favorite?”

Celebrate 10 years of Pokémon GO and 30 years of Pokémon by showing off your favorite Pokémon with “What’s Your Favorite?”, a new feature in Pokémon GO! Whether it’s a fit check or a new profile picture, use “What’s Your Favorite?” to take a picture with your favorite Pokémon and share it with your friends!

“What’s Your Favorite?” is a new camera feature in Pokémon GO that lets you create shared moments with your favorite Pokémon, even if you haven’t caught them yet! Almost all Pokémon in Pokémon GO are available to take photos using this feature.

Whether you’re a seasoned Trainer or just starting your journey, “What’s Your Favorite?” is available for everyone. Read on to learn how to use the feature—and find out about exciting bonuses it has in store!

Discover “What’s Your Favorite?”

There are two ways for Trainers to access “What’s Your Favorite?”

  • For new or logged out Trainers, “What’s Your Favorite?” can be found on the login page after entering your date of birth. Tap on “Take a photo” to get started!
  • For Trainers who are already logged in to Pokémon GO, “What’s Your Favorite?” can be found by tapping the camera icon in the menu or by selecting the camera item in your inventory.

How to use “What’s Your Favorite?”

Taking a picture with “What’s Your Favorite?” is as easy as 1, 2, 3!

  1. Pick your favorite Pokémon to take a picture with. Haven’t caught the Pokémon yet? No problem! You can take a photo with almost all Pokémon in Pokémon GO.*
  1. Take a photo with your friends, family, or just by yourself! “What’s Your Favorite?” even includes a handy timer to make it easier for Trainers to take photos. Just tap on the timer icon in the bottom left of the page to kick off a five-second countdown.
  1. Customize your photo with all kinds of stickers and frames.

And most importantly, remember to download and share your photo with your favorite Pokémon for everyone to enjoy! Share your photos on social media with #Pokemon30, and we’ll share our favorites.

*Note: Pokémon outside of their original forms (including, but not limited to, costumed Pokémon, Mega-Evolved Pokémon, Max Pokémon, etc.) are not available to take a picture with using “What’s Your Favorite?”.

Special Research

For new Trainers who use “What’s Your Favorite?”, there will be a Special Research opportunity that can be claimed starting now! To get this research, new Trainers simply need to take a photo with their favorite Pokémon using “What’s Your Favorite?” and then create a Pokémon GO account, then log in within three days of creating their account!

Trainers who complete the Special Research will earn items, an encounter with Gengar, and 100 PokéCoins!

New Trainers can claim this Special Research until March 31, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time. Special Research does not expire, so you can complete and claim its rewards at your own pace!
